What is Parking Mode?
The term 'Parking Mode' is used to express a video mode -- that enables the dash camera to capture videos when your car is parked and the engine is off, which offers round-the-clock security and supervision of your vehicle.
Parking Mode in the dash cam ensures immediate recording whenever its G-sensor detects any motion while your vehicle is parked and the engine is off. Parking mode eliminates the need to leave the camera continuously On when you park your car, which helps to minimize unnecessary recording time and save energy.
So with this mode, if an accident happens while you're leaving the vehicle, you don't need to sift through hours of useless footage anymore, because only the actual accident itself is recorded. The incident footage is "locked" (protected) for later viewing. Equipped with high-quality image and vibration sensors, the Park Mode Dashboard Camera can detect motion or shock to ensure that if your vehicle is tampered with, crashed, or worse. You'll know exactly what happened.
Parking Mode operates as a sentry function under different situations. You can switch to different parking monitoring modes according to different parking situations. You can choose the parking mode you need, including Collision Detection/Motion Detection/Low Bitrate Recording/Low Framerate Mode/OFF.
How Does The Parking Mode Work?
Dash cam equipped with a shock-detection sensor, the G-sensor, enables Parking Mode to automatically turn on and record -- the camera vibrates when your car is parked there -- for example, a crash event.
After recording, it will securely lock the video data to avoid deletion by the loop cycle function and automatically shut down. This sensitive parking mode feature of the Vantrue dashboard limits the camera's internal battery from being drained.
Turn it 'ON' or 'OFF'
Intelligent Parking Mode is an option that can be selected in the menu of Vantrue Dash Cam. With Intelligent Parking Mode, your Vantrue Dash Cam monitors your vehicle every time you park it. As soon as you turn off the ignition and exit the vehicle, the dash cam switches into parking mode by shutting down everything except the G Force sensor. This feature helps reduce power consumption and thus extends battery life. Further, Intelligent Parking Mode can automatically increase the sensitivity of G-Sensor Motion Detection to record movements in front of your car to better protect against car burglary or robbery.
How is Parking Mode beneficial in dashcams?
This feature is beneficial and serves multiple purposes while your car is parked, including:
If you need to contest an unfair parking ticket.
If someone dings/bumps your car with their car door
If your vehicle is involved in a hit-and-run while parked.
If someone vandalizes or attempts to steal your vehicle while parked.
My camera says it is in going into motion detection mode after I turn off the ignition. Then it record continuisly for an hour more and then stops completely. It never detects any moition later. Has anyone experienced this before?
Can you use the app while away from your car?

Parking mode doesn't appear to be automatic with the OBD2 hardware kit. The camera stays fully on recording full video after the engine is turned off. To enable parking mode I need to press and hold the parking mode button every time I turn off the engine.
