i live in Chicago where Stop Signs and do not Turn on Red Signs means Do Not Stop for the Majority of drivers and Red lights mean speed up to get through the Intersection. This why a Dash Cam would be invaluable to protect yourself in case of a accident.
A dash cam should record from both front and back. It can be a great witness to an accident or theft.
A wide scope. Easy installation. Large memory capacity. It would be great for all travel, but especially for long trips.

In addition to being able to record traffic incidents I would like it for added security to be able to see who has messed with my car when I'm not there. So a wide lens is important.
I would like to see an option of an external microphone to record outside of the vehicle, possibly weatherproof and grill mounted.
My biggest fear is instillation and battery power. This seems pretty simple and reliable.
Long battery life and when selected ability to record while cars off and parked. Front and rear recording. Night vision. Audio when selected. Ability to blue tooth with your phone. Auto record option when car starts. A 360 degree mounting to turn and record at any angle.
I was thinking of getting one of these because a few years ago someone cut me off in traffic and blamed me for rear ending them.
